Hello,Recently, my area had a wind storm, and I lost power for nearly a week. The power is back on now and it seems my computer is not able to browse the web (tried IE and FF3), although I am able to IM through MSN, AIM, Yahoo!, etc. And play online games such as WoW. My computer was perfectly fine before the power went out. My computer is connected to a Wireless network in the same room through a Netgear router connected to an Insight Broadband cable modem. I am pretty sure this is a problem with just my computer as I am able to browse the internet (and ask this question) on my parents computer and my mom's laptop, which all connect to the same router. I have found that I am also able to ping any website.
Also, I am not able to system restore. This has been very troublesome for me for the past week since my power has been back on and I would love to fix it as soon as possible, as it is very inconvenient having to use my parents computer. Thanks to anybody who is willing/able to help!My computerMicrosoft Windows XP ProfessionalVersion 2002Service Pack 3Also, if you need any more information, please ask! A high percentage of connection issues that occur when you have an internet connection but can't get a browser to hook in is due to firewalls.
If your browser won't connect, first try disabling any firewall (you should never have more than one firewall on your computer) and then check for ability to get browser to hook up. If that doesn't work, then remove your firewall from your computer.
If it won't uninstall, then remove it manually. Directions on manual removal of firewalls are available on the internet. I recommend addressing the firewall issue first before examining other possibilities.

Believe it or not, sometimes the website you are trying to visit may be responsible for the ERRADDRESSUNREACHABLE error message, or, simply, the website is geo-restricted (can be accessed from certain locations only (e.g. Only from the USA, Russia, China, etc.).What you need to do is to contact the website owner or support team, however, before you do that, you need to verify that it's really you who cannot access the website. Last edited byI get the message 'This site can't be reached' pretty much all the time. It makes some suggestions, but it's not been helpful. This site can’t be reachedunexpectedly closed the connection.Try:Reloading the page DIDN'T WORKChecking the connection WORKS FINEChecking the proxy and the firewall I DON'T KNOW WHETHER THIS IS SHARED WITH OTHER BROWSERS, CHROME AND SAFARI WORK FINE.Check your internet connection. WORKS FIE.Check any cables and reboot any routers, modems, or other network devices you may be using.
WORKS FINE.Allow Opera to access the network in your firewall or antivirus settings. If it is already listed as a program allowed to access the network, try removing it from the list and adding it again. I USE AVAST BUT I DON'T KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS.If you use a proxy server. I DONT THINK I DO THIS.So.Other browsers in my macbook pro such as chrome work fine.Other devices in the same network work fine.I've found that if I delete browsing history data in Opera, it starts working again and I can go into gmail and facebook., but after a few hours it stops working and I get the error message again.
Last edited byI too suffer from the same problem: some sites just won't load on Opera while they work quite fine on other browsers. I tried everything but could not get it to work.Yesterday I tried to complete and submit a report on my State's Secretary of State (SoS) web site. The required web sites opened and worked perfectly on two other browsers. I called the SoS's office, was immediately connected to the tech help person whose first question was, 'what browser are you using?'
When I told him Opera, he said, 'Try Firefox, Safari or Chrome. They should work.' He was right. The required sites opened on Firefox and I was able to complete and submit. What a shame.
Chrome This Site Can T Be Reached
I have learned to love Opera but this appears to be a problem that almost has me going back to Firefox. I will continue to use Opera and look forward to the problem being solved.
Mac This Site Cannot Be Reached
When the first piece of advice from a site owner is to tell you to use another browser, that means the problem is one they have faced many times in the past and is probably a lot bigger than the settings on my iMac.Opera should pay some attention to this vexing problem, if they haven't already.
